The Origin Story of...

the blackmarker

When a bird watched the leaves fall in the city of Atlanta on an autumn morning in 2013, it did so without knowing they wouldn't be alone. They were joined by the footfalls of a middle aged man from the deserts of Southern California ushering his family into their new home in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains an hour north of the city. With him came a hope to nurture his family and grow his abilities in unknown soil. He applied his craft at the world famous Ink and Dagger tattoo for 10 years before he decided to strike out and create his own path in the name of the Blackmarker, a fortress for the craft in Dawsonville Georgia. This is the story of that fortress and the warriors that dwell within.

After 23 years of tattooing experience, the bruises give you clarity, the mistakes solidify resolve and the grey hairs indeed give you purpose. These are the attributes that nurture a craft and give the will to those that seek an independence of thought, this is our quest. we here at the Blackmarker battle each design and mold each concept until a battle hardened and fire tested tattoo steps into the light.

our Quest

The Vision

Our hopes are simple and our path is clear, we push forward in an uncertain time through dark landscapes filled with pitfalls. We struggle against the norm, and push back from the malaise of common designs. We go forth in the name of individually and daring to die on the hill of unconditional quality. Your project is our mission, our quest, and at the of our journey we will revel in the glory of your triumph. Let us make your mark in this world.

QUESTIONS?

ALL QUESTIONS CAN BE HANDLED THOUGH BOOKING REQUESTS BUT HERES SOME THAT ARE FREQUENTLY ASKED
* A booking Request doesn't require a payment, you are only charged for a deposit once approved by the artist, you then put down the deposit and chose your appointment date.
*Each artist will communicate their own preferences on how the project will be discussed as you move forward. Some artists prefer in shop consults while others prefer to handle the
specifics of the project via phone or text.
*We recommend a few things that will help your appointment have its most successful outcome. For starters we ask you to hydrate before your appointment and most importantly, having a large meal before your appointment. Blood sugar is key ton your comfort and sugary snacks are always welcomed as well as provided to you by the blackmarket. Secondly, Some artists are less talkative during their work so bringing head phones or a book may go a long way with getting you through certain less enjoyable times in the tattoo process. Thirdly, if you are able to help with preparation for the tattoo, then shaving the area of the proposed tattoo is recommended, the longer between the shaving and the alcohol application before the stencil application, the better. Unnecessary pain is just that, unnecessary.
